According to the Nigerian army website there has been an explosion that claimed the live of several civilians.
According to the website, the incident happened yesterday evening at about 8.30pm where about 3 (kids and teenegers) suspected suicide bombers ranging 10 -15 years went into Benisheikh, Borno State. A part of Nigeria that has be ravaged by voilence for kyears now.
They suspects where hoever were spotted by ever vigilant Borno State Youth Empowerment Scheme also know as (Civilian JTF). The Civilian JTF or Joint Task Force has been imsteumental in fight the war against terrorism. Having suspected something amiss about them and as it turned out the were up to no good as one of them was indeed laden with Improvised Explosive Device (IED).
While the Civilian Joint Task Force was in the process of screening the suspect following the necessary drills and precautions which is routine, the carrier detonated the IED, that led to the death of 9 people and 24 others sustained various degrees of injuries.
The security and emergency management agents quickly mobilized and the area since cordon the scene and bodies have been evacuated and all those injured are receiving medical attention in various hospitals
The security agencies have intensified patrols and security checks in the area.
It would be remembered that DSS has warned the general public that Bokoharam has planned to kidnap and forcefully recruit youths and children with the intention of using the as suicide bombers. Therefor the need for everyone to be security conscious especially during the festive period.
The army has also condemn this dastardly act and commiserate with the families of these that lost their lives and the injured, it is pertinent to reiterate the need for more security consciousness and vigilance by all especially during the yuletide and New Year holidays.
